"The Star-Spangled Banner" is the national anthem of the United States of America. The lyrics come from "Defence of Fort McHenry", a poem written in 1814 by the 35-year-old lawyer and amateur poet, Francis Scott Key, after witnessing the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Royal Navy ships in Chesapeake Bay during the Battle of Fort McHenry in the War of 1812.

The Star-Spangled Banner (La Bannière étoilée) est un poème écrit en 1814 par Francis Scott Key et qui constitue à présent l’hymne national des États-Unis. Joué sur l’air de To Anacreon in Heaven [...] ce poème est devenu bien connu en tant que chant patriotique américain. Il a été reconnu pour un usage officiel par la marine américaine en 1889 et par la Maison-Blanche en 1916, et a été adopté comme hymne national par une résolution du Congrès en date du 3 mars 1931.
